The spine protects the spinal cord, which runs through a tunnel that is formed by the holes in each vertebrae. The soft nerve tissue of the spinal cord carries information from the brain to various portions of the body, but an injury can disrupt the flow of information. Man sentenced after Ontario hit-and-run accident

A 35-year-old man was sentenced to a prison term of three-and-a-half years after he admitted his role in a hit-and-run accident. The accident left a 10-year-old boy in a coma with severe brain injuries. The man’s wife is also facing an accessory after the fact charge in connection with the collision. She has also entered a guilty plea and was scheduled to be sentenced in March.
